This week I visited Kill Creek Park. I will start by saying I have been to this park one time before on a school field trip in grade five. Going back, it definitely felt different than I remembered it. For one the park is very large. I briefly remember going canoeing on the spacious lake. Seeing it now the lake is very nice and of course has plenty of fish
By the lake is a marina where canoes and kayaks are available for renting. Off of the lake is also a swimming beach. I will actually be doing a triathlon here soon, and seeing the grounds got me even more excited.
There are a variety of trail types including walking, hiking, mountain bike, and even equestrian trails. I was only able to explore the walking trails, and they were very enjoyable. The trails were mostly lined with trees or went through forested areas. The trails also cross some bridges going over, as its name implies, a creek. Some trails were asphalt, while some were concrete or dirt.
The park has a few unique features. The observation tower is especially enticing. Its design is very architecturally cool. Another one of these unique features is the equestrian trails. These are, of course, for horseback riding. I had not yet been to a park with public equestrian trails before, and while I didn't see any horses on my visit, I find this to be special.
Kill Creek Park has a designated dog park which adds another piece to the puzzle. Overall, I rate Kill Creek Park a 10. This is the first park I've rated a 10. It met nearly all of my grading criteria. Other than the aforementioned; the park was well maintained and enjoyable. The only mark against Kill Creek Park is that it is not very accessible. This is certainly a downside but for the purposes of this blog, I believe the park constitutes a 10.
I appreciate your review, and think it is very helpful for those looking for a new walking/ date spot. I value that you mention the different features at the parks as well.
